Meera Dattani is a freelance travel journalist and co-editor of Adventure.com which she regularly writes for. She has written travel features for a number of publications including The Guardian, Telegraph, The Independent and Evening Standard, and her articles have been shortlisted for several awards including the Travel Media Awards. She has also co-authored two Rough Guides including the Rough Guide to Cambodia.
Her travels have taken her on extended solo trips to Patagonia, Cambodia, Thailand, Uruguay, Laos, South Africa, Uganda, Vietnam, Peru and many more, and increasingly she focuses on championing emerging destinations, community-based tourism, ethical wildlife travel, and ensuring local and indigenous voices are not overlooked in travel writing. She’s also a very-fairweather hiker, kayaker and climber.
Meera has a BA in Italian and Hispanic Studies from Birmingham University and has lived in both Italy and Spain. A second-generation immigrant born in London, her parents were born and raised in Uganda, and her family roots lie in Gujarat, northwest India.
